Compiler is an AI-powered tool that reads your codebase and answers questions about how your app works in plain English. Product, support, sales and operations teams can ask about features, edge cases and behavior, and get answers grounded in the code instead of waiting on an engineer. You run Compiler on your own infrastructure. It reads your repositories through a private GitHub App you own, and uses Claude through either the Anthropic API or Amazon Bedrock.

Quickstart

Get a self-hosted instance running and ask your first question.

Deploy

Docker

Run the published image on your own server, with automatic SSL through Caddy.

Heroku

Deploy to Heroku dynos with container-based deployment.

Other platforms

Deploy on Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or any other container platform.

Configure

GitHub App

Connect Compiler to the repositories it should read.

AWS Bedrock

Use Claude through Amazon Bedrock instead of the Anthropic API.

Storage

Turn on file uploads in conversations with Amazon S3.

Slack

Let people mention @Compiler in Slack and get answers in the thread.

How it fits together

The AI provider, GitHub App and file storage are configured in the app after first login, not through environment variables.
